This A New Approach to Child Poverty course has been created with children in mind and will help learners to identify children and families living in poverty and support them in overcoming their poverty.

There were 3.7 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2013-2014, according to Barnardo's.

Completing this course will help you understand legal legislation (The Child Poverty Act 2010), child poverty and its disadvantage, the impact child poverty has on those around them and you will learn your role as a practitioner.

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Explain what child poverty is and which disadvantages are related to it.
  • Describe how it impacts on children, families and communities
  • Recognise signs and risk factors of child poverty
  • Work together with other agencies, services and support networks to overcome child poverty.
  • Contribute to overcoming child poverty.
