This An Introduction to Slips, Trips and Falls in the Workplace course has been created with businesses in mind and will ensure organisations are able to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls in the workplace. This in turn will reduce the risk of injury and unwanted expenses.

By completing this course you will be meeting your legal obligations and minimising the risk of bad publicity or lawsuits.

During 2014/15 an estimated 1.5 million working days were lost as a result of slips, trips and falls in the UK. There were over 76,000 non-fatal injuries to employees with over 59% of specified major injuries caused by slips, trips or falls.

The main pieces of legislation this course will cover are:

1. Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974

2. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulation 1999

3. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992

4. Reporting of Injuries, Diseases Occurrences Regulations 1995 (Updated version released in 2013)

5. The Work at Height Regulations 2005

Learners will be taught about legislation, the problem, the risk assessment and the control measures to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls.

On completion of this course learners will:

  • Understand what can cause slips, trips and falls from a height
  • Be familiar with legislation relating to slips, trips and falls
  • Understand the role of risk assessment
