Office 2007 Unit 7 - Using Email and the Internet (mapped to the ECDL Syllabus 5)

Course Overview

Following the ECDL syllabus (version 5 - Office 2007 / Windows Vista), this module provides the learner with a good working knowledge of how to use the Internet to find information and to use e-mail to communicate effectively at work and at home. After taking this course, learners will know about using email and the internet. They will be able to send and receive emails, search for specific information online and take appropriate precautions to avoid online fraud and malicious damage to their files and computers. The course is supplemented by tasks, assignments and a project, which allow learners to practise their newly acquired skills.

  • Navigating the Web - using a web browser and hyperlinks
  • Searching the Web - using a search engine, saving and printing search results, downloading files, using help
  • Using Favourites - creating and organisation favourites
  • Customising Web Browser - setting a start page, changing a display mode, modifying browser settings, internet security
  • Outlook Basics -receiving, sending, replying and forwarding emails
  • Outlook Tools - e-mails signatures, using help
  • Modifying Emails - editing e-mails, checking spelling
  • Saving and Printing E-mails
  • Organising E-mails - moving and searching for e-mails
  • Updating Address Boon - adding an address and creating a distribution list

Target Audience

Individuals, Companies and employees of organisations of any size wishing to improve computer skills.

Duration

It is estimated that this module will take approximately 7 - 10 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As an e-learning module you can complete this training in convenient stages and revisit whenever you wish. The system will record your progress throughout. You have six months to complete the training and associated test.

Certification

When you have successfully completed your course, you will be able to print out a Virtual College certificate. If you then wish to go on to take the official BCS (British Computer Society) test as part of the full ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) seven module qualification, please follow this link to find a BCS Test Centre in your area as you will need to take the invigilated test by visiting the test centre.
